The UK Unmarried Partner visa allows an unmarried person to enter or remain in the UK if they are in a relationship with someone who is settled in the UK (a UK resident with no immigration restrictions).
The UK Unmarried Partner visa applies to both heterosexual and homosexual relationships as long as the applicant can prove that their relationship is legitimate and has been ongoing for two or more years.
If the application is successful, the applicant will be eligible to work in the UK as soon as their visa is granted.
Visa Requirements:
- The applicant and their partner must both be 18 years old or over
- The couple must intend on living together on a permanent basis
- Must be able to show that any past relationships of the applicant or their partner has ended
- The applicant must be able to show that they have been living with their partner for at least two years (documentary evidence must be provided to confirm this)
- The couple must have sufficient funds to support themselves without claiming public funds
- The UK citizen in the relationship must be earning at least £18,600 per year or in savings in order to sponsor their partner (financial requirements will increase if sponsoring children as dependents)
- Must meet the English language requirements
