The fiancé visa enables a person who has ‘settled status’ (someone with no immigration restrictions on the length of their stay) in the UK to bring their fiancé into the UK to join them. Unlike the other partner visas, with with a fiancé visa there is no requirement for the applicant and their sponsor to have lived together before applying.
Visa Requirements:
- The applicant and their future spouse must be at least 18 years of age
- The applicant and their spouse must have met each other
- The couple must intend to live together on a permanent basis once married
- Must be able to show that any previous relationship of the applicant or their partner has ended
- The couple must have enough funds to support themselves without claiming public funds
- The sponsoring partner must be earning a minimum of £18,600 per annum or have savings to be able to sponsor their fiancé (the financial requirement will increase if the couple are also sponsoring children as dependants)
- The sponsoring partner must have suitable accommodation available for themselves, their future spouse and any dependants
